If there is one route which will totally take your breath away then this will be it. Zigzagging and hairpinning through the Fagaras Mountains in Romania, this 100km drive is a truly unforgettable experience. Not for the fainthearted, the route climbs up to an altitude of 2034 meters and links Transylvania with it's neighbouring province Muntenia passing through dramatic scenery and offering spectacular views, particularly from the highest peak in Romania, Moldoveanu. In September 2009 the cast and crew of the British television show Top Gear were seen filming along the road. The segment appeared in first episode of Series 14 which first aired November 15, 2009. They were in the country on a grand tour with a Aston Martin DBS Volante, Ferrari California and a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder. Host Jeremy Clarkson claimed he made a mistake in naming the Stelvio Pass as the best road in the world and instead Transfăgărăşan should have this title. The movie Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance, starring Nicolas Cage and Idris Elba, will be shooting along the road for several of the film's stunts.
